Response to covid-19
In the past weeks, we have seen an increase on the number of COVID-19 infections all over the world. Instead of giving in to fear, we need to respond in faith because we know that God is sovereign.
The Bible says in Philippians 4: “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
- The Command: Do not be anxious (feeling or showing worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome) – God is in control. He can make this mess into a wonderful message.
- What We Need to Do: Pray and ask with thanksgiving – look forward to how God uses you mightily as light and salt during dark times. The darker the place, the brighter the light. Be thankful because we have the opportunity to be light!
- Claim the Promise: And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus – He is the Prince of Peace! Ask for His peace and spread that peace among your family, friends, and peers.
Exciting times are ahead of us. Hebrews 10:25 says “not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
In a season such as this, we should be more committed to fellowshipping with God’s people. Whether meeting one-on-one or in small groups of 8-12, let us continue to remind each other of God’s love for humanity. Let us encourage one another to seize this opportunity to pray for those who need healing both physically and spiritually. What people need today is hope and the best person to place our hope on is Jesus Christ.
Good or bad, whatever the situation is, our mandate stays the same: Honor God and make disciples. Let us continue to be in faith and trust in God!
